Soy Chapín SnapChat Geofilter
Designed this Snapchat geofilter concept for the immigrants of Guatemala. This filter would be located in Westlake, a LA neighborhood, on the sidewalk corner of S Bonnie Brae St and 6th St. This space is known as either Little Guatemala or the Guatemalan Night Market, where Guatemalans come together for the community and food made by the street vendors.
As an immigrant from Guatemala, I wanted people to be able to connect with each other through a creative filter that they can identify with. With that, I decided to design this for Guatemalans that are proud of their nationality and their roots away from home. I chose the widely used expression “Soy Chapín” which translates to “I am Guatemalan” while I also illustrated a Quetzal, the national bird, and placed it on top of the expression.
